Why I support my husband’s sports obsession…

A lot of families have their sport. I live in Nebraska, so almost EVERYONE here loves the Huskers. I wasn’t raised a Husker fan, which is surprising because I was alive during the 1994/1995 seasons. Honestly, it wasn’t until I was an adult that I understood that we apparently had a pretty amazing team during that time and it would have been pretty awesome to be a fan. However, now the team isn’t that great and the fans are just as passionate now as they were then. It wasn’t until I met my husband, that I understood what it meant to be a true fan and why it doesn’t matter your team ranking.

My family is made up of Patriot fans. I was married into this religion of Patriots Nation, but my husband bleeds Patriot blood. His grandfather, James Roach, started him out young. Being a fan of the Patriots is more than just being a fan of a particular team for Lucas. It’s a way for him to always have a bond with his Boston Family; it’s the memories of going to all the games with his grandparents, and it’s something that everyone in his family has in common no matter where they are located. So, when we took our first son home in a shirt that said “Born a Patriots Fan just like my Daddy”, it wasn’t because we wanted him to only love one team; It was because we wanted him to have the same bond with the Patriots, just like his daddy. It’s a good feeling to know that no matter where you are in the world that for a few hours on Sunday, every member of the family is doing the exact same thing. So I am excited to support this bond between my family and the Patriots because being a Pats fan is so much more than just loving a team- it’s about family.
